MSO has direct representation to Masters Swimming Canada (MSC). This representation consists of 1 person, 1 vote and an obligation for financial support. Each province determines its own representation to this national body. The Board of Directors of MSO selects one of the directors to represent the swimmers of our province to MSC.

MSC is responsible for approving the annual Canadian Masters Swimming Championship. It also provides each registered swimmer in Canada with WAVES / LA VAGUE, a periodically-published newsletter. |
Swim Ontario is the governing body for amateur competitive swimming in Ontario. It provides the infrastructure for age group swimming that leads all the way to the Olympic Games.

MSO is independent of Swim Ontario, but has an indirect voice to Swim Ontario. This voice consists of 1 vote at the Swim Ontario Annual General Meeting and the opportunity to present a report to that AGM. |
Our most important connection to Swim Ontario is through the on deck swimming officials. These officials are trained by Swim Ontario and give generously of their time and talents to support the Masters Swimmers in our province. MSO provides one voting member to the OSOA Board.

The national swimming organization is known as Swim Natation Canada (SNC). Masters Swimming Canada has no formal representation to SNC, but a line of communication is available via an official liaison. Swim Ontario, however, is a full fledged, active member of SNC.

| And if you are still keeping track of the bureaucracy and the initials, SNC (along with the national Diving, Water Polo and Synchronized Swimming organizations) combine to make up the Aquatic Federation of Canada (AFC). It is the Canadian governing body of all aquatic sports and the international representative to the Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA). |
FINA is responsible for organizing and administering international aquatic competitions, including the Olympics and World Championships. FINA comprises the 4 aquatic disciplines (swimming, water polo, synchronized swimming and diving) and includes a separate Masters Committee.
