MSC: GEOFF
1.
MSC AGM, the Directors meeting and the Open Meeting took place at Nationals
in Ottawa. Pat Niblett attended for Ontario, as Geoff Camp was injured
and unable to attend. Pat Niblett was not allowed to vote for Ontario,
as official notice was not given as Geoff was injured just before he was
to attend. Pat reported that there was good input from members at
the meeting.
Geoff Camp has officially resigned
all posts at MSC including the Vice-President position,
Liaison to Recorders Committee and Marketing.
3.
A Big concern expressed at Nationals was that it was going to lose money.
Paul Gerrard (Quebec MSC Rep) and Geoff Camp were asked to look into accounts
to see what the actual numbers were. In June 1999 Geoff Camp and
Paul Gerrard looked at the books and said that Nationals will at least
breakeven or will make approximately $5,000.00.
4. 8th FINA Masters
Championship will be held in Munich Germany between 28th July 2000 – 7th
August 2000. Entry forms as not available as of today July 12th,
1999. The entry forms will be available soon probably on their website.
On June 11 & 12th the Masters Committee Meeting was held in Munich
by FINA technical committee (MSC was not notified). Bruce Rodgers
(our FINA rep) voted for time standards for all events. If you do
not make minimum time standards then you do not get your name on the official
results. Age limit for FINA masters’ official increased to 70 from
the previous 60.
5. Diane Foster
from BC had her world record times refused by Walt Reid, as Christian Berger
did not send in the reports on time. Clidna Johnson is now the new
liaison for records for MSC and will be setting up new method of sending
in records to Walt Reid independent of Christian Berger.
COMMUNICATIONS: RALPH
Ralph has been looking into whether clubs
would like to receive their minutes by email. He has sent a questionnaire
with the following four questions to clubs and is waiting for many to respond.
1. Would
your swim club prefer to have MSP e-mail information?
2. If yes,
what are the contact names and e-mail addresses the MSO registrar should
use to contact your club? Two addresses are preferred, but not necessary
in case one computer is down or not monitored.
3. In what
format and version can your viewer read a document?
4. Would
your club like to have a contact name, e-mail address and web site added
to the MSO Web Site
Ralph reported that 47 inquiries had been sent out for which 15 replies had been received. Of the clubs that have responded most would be happy to receive info by email.

WEB SITE: BARRIE
Lesley gave Barrie a disk for meet results
and records. Handbook is on the Web site and the Rule book is now
going up. All forms will be available on the web site.
FITNESS: GRANT
As Grant was not in attendance, Ralph
presented his report. For a Fall Fitness Clinic in Ottawa, Duane
Jones of Technosport was interested in running the clinic in conjuction
with a mini-meet starting with lectures on Friday evening, mini-meet Saturday
morning and clinic continuing Saturday afternoon.
Grant wanted feedback from the board on
the above. Board suggested:
1. OK for Technosport
to host clinic.
2. MSO would publicize
event on web site.
3. Clinic should
be independent of mini-meet. If Friday night session was omitted,
out of town attendees would not have to overnight in Ottawa or commute
twice.
COMPETITION: CHERYL
See attached meet schedule.
RULES: PAT
No report.
OFFICIALS: PAT
No report.
STATISTICS: LESLEY
Problems worked out and results now sent
to Barrie for entry on website. 25 meets now entered however Nationals
has not been entered as yet due to its size.
Lesley will not be entering splits unless
they are official splits. Swimmers must request an official split
prior to their swim.
Christian Berger wants names and birthdates of MSO members. Pat will put forth a notice of motion at the AGM for the members to vote on.
National Championships had many world and Canadian records set.
Christian Berger has requested up to date meet results through out the year. MSC rules state that Provincial Bodies should only send in the results once a year. MSO will stay with the MSC ruling.
PROVINCIALS: CHARLIE (Absent)

NEW BUSINESS
Masters Games in Guelph will be held August 10 – August 20/2000
MSO does not want to get involved for the following reasons:
a. They have not requested a meet sanction.
b. They have many non-masters swimmers in the meet and therefore will be
unable to be sanctioned.
We recommend that they get someone locally to help run the meet.
MSO ALGONQUIN CLUB for Munich
The Algonquin Masters Swim Club will be activated next year to allow MSO
registered swimmers competing in the 8th FINA World Masters Championship
in Munich to join for the purpose of relays and camaraderie. They
must notify the MSO Registrar of their intent as soon as possible so that
all Algonquin members can be notified of the members of the team prior
to the entry deadline
IGLA – International Gay & Lesbian Aquatics
