CALL TO ORDER

Sharon Cockerton called the meeting to order at 12:10 PM

To adopt the agenda with additions as discussed.

ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES OF July 23, 2000

Changes as follows:

The Motion under Competitions/Provincials should read: All request shall be put on the website

when received and send to all Board members and Webmaster as Planned. All parties are to

be informed when sanctions have been granted.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

CONSTITUTION: No Report

STRATEGIC PLAN: Sharon has nothing to report.

NOMINATIONS: Anyone interested in running for the Board should contact Chris Smith.

FINANCE: Darlene will (on MSO’s behalf) be putting $5000.00 into a Term Deposit.

MSC: Geoff reported that he will be sitting in for Pat who will not be able to attend the Next MSC meeting,

scheduled as a conference call. MSC will be dealing with issues on the One False Start Rule, Starting position on the Block, age determination and age of eligibility, swimmer verification on relays, event seeding by age or time, time standards, choice events like 200/400 Open, and Province wide Relays.

1999 Nationals in Nepean made a profit of $6-7 K

2000 Nationals Halifax about $1500. loss

2001 Calgary Nationals-unlimited # of entries and the banquet is included in cost of fee.

2002 Saskatoon Nationals will be limited to 450 entries.

2002 Nationals proposal coming from Quebec City.

Finances now calculated by calendar year.

Quebec is in the exploratory stages of becoming Incorporated.

Discussion item-sending the President of MSC to Florida to the USMS National Convention.

COMMUNICATIONS: Ralph is now starting to work on the Handbook revisions. Darlene will check to see if it on disc.

MEMBERSHIP: Sharon has nothing to report.

MARKETING: Ann presented her participation incentive. It was decided that a letter would go to the clubs first to gauge interest and receive comments. Information would be available at meets with a small questionnaire.

WEB SITE: Barrie reported that things are going well. Better communication between Brian, Charlie and herself is making information exchange easier and quicker. Still wanting to improve webiste and links.

FITNESS: No report from Grant.

COMPETITION: Charlie reports a full schedule so far. New meets from new clubs will make some "regular meet" clubs disappointed. All meets are sanctioned on a first come, first serve basis. MasterAthelete Games finally sanctioned after much discussion back and forth. MSO will send Club address labels after receiving assurances they will not be used for any other purpose.

RULES & OFFICIALS: Nothing to report as Pat was absent. There will be more to report after the MSC teleconference call.

STATISTICS: Lesley reports that she is still having problems getting results. Lesley does not take them from the Web, and will only accept hard copies.

PROVINCIALS: Chris reports that the OSOA will be meeting in October to confirm the Provincial bid. This will be presented at the next meeting for sanction approval.  All Regions have listed on the Website Officials clinics they are running.

SWIM ONTARIO LIAISON: Claus reports that Lea, the Executive Director of Swim Ontario, would like to be present at one of our meetings. It was discussed that the January meeting would be the best.

SO needs to receive a copy of our meet sanctions for insurance purposes. Charlie will make sure that they receive a copy once the meet is sanctioned.

The Ontario Hall of Fame does not include any Master Swimmers, and this opportunity is being extended to us to.

Lea would like to see more integration between Age Groups and Masters-in Clubs and Swim Meets.

The Philosophy of SNC is "swimming -cradle to grave".

NEW BUSINESS: Ann reported that the Heart and Stroke Foundation is interested in getting Masters Swimming involved. Ann will contact them and see what they have to offer-with no commitment.

NEXT MEETING: The next meeting is set for November 24th. Location To be advised.
