Web Site Guidelines
- Purpose of the MSO Web Site - Fun, Fitness, Friendship and Communication - The web site is clearly intended for all aspects of Masters Swimming, not just competition and elite swimmers and shall therefore address the broadest possible range of topics.
- MSO Web Site Committee - In keeping with the visibility of the web and the power of the web as a communications tool, a standing committee shall be created. The committee shall comprise the web master and others as designated by the MSO Board of Directors. The chair of the committee shall be appointed by the MSO Board of Directors.
- Budget - The web master shall prepare a budget annually for approval by the MSO Board of Directors. Expenses shall be reimbursed upon presentation of appropriate documentation.
- Data Content - Authorization and Authenticity shall be the overriding principles for data on the MSO Web Site. There shall be 3 classes of information available on the web site (see appendices for explanation and examples):
- pre-approved MSO information
- MSO information beyond those pre-approved topics
- club information, which shall be posted as a service for the club
- Club Web Site Contact - Each and every club wishing to have material posted to the web site shall designate a 'Web Site Contact' and notify the MSO Web Site Committee. Only information and instructions received from that person shall appear on the MSO Web Site.
- Response Times - Requests by the web master for information / authorization / authenticity shall be dealt with as quickly as possible by the recipient of the request.
- Disallowed Data - Personal data shall not be on line unless authorized by the individual.
- Copyright - The source of all information shall be clearly designated.
- Third Party Support - MSO actively encourages the web master to link Masters Swimming Ontario to the worldwide network of Masters Swimmers.
- The Web Master - The web master shall be a technician only, responsible for the design and maintenance of the web site. The web master may solicit information from any source, subject to approval by the Web Site Committee, but shall offer no personal opinions. MSO may choose to have the web site maintained by an independent person or corporate body.
- The Service Provider - MSO shall ensure that the server on which the web site is situated is not under the control of the web master. MSO shall enter into an agreement with a service provider, contingent upon the service provider agreeing to recognize MSO's authority over the web site and its contents.
