Swimmers TRILLIUM Award

The Trillium Award 2006

The Trillium Award was initiated in 2005 to recognize significant contributions to our Provincial Masters Organization and our sport in Ontario from individuals, couples, clubs or organizations which have, in the recent year or years, made a difference. We appreciate the important role that our volunteers play at every level of our sport; their contribution is what makes our sport possible. This award is a small token of thanks to a few who have stood out. We thank all our volunteers.

2006 Recipients

Olenka and Norm McKee

Olenka and Norm McKee have become heavily involved in the operations of MSO and MSC over the last few years. Olenka as a MSO Board member and the sanctioning officer has worked to improve all aspects of this process. Norm became the MSO rep to MSC at the beginning of 2004 and was asked to head up the strategic planning process, which was initiated in part at MSO's request to bring our national organization in compliance with its Objects. Norm, at the completion of this process was asked to implement the plan, becoming MSC's Director of Operations. This process has brought major changes to MSC which will have great benefits to our members in Ontario and across Canada.

Lindsay Patten

We have recognized that technology now allows us to do far more than before. We have looked at upgrading our registration, results, rankings and records databases over several years, attempting to establish what we needed and how much it would cost. We were not able to decide how to proceed with this until Lindsay Patten from New Brunswick offered to set up a database for MSC, MSO, MSNB and other interested provinces which would provide all the components requested, plus additional ones, and at a fraction of the price originally proposed. Although the database is not yet complete we already have many of our members using its services and can see that the registration and reporting processes will be far better than we had thought possible.

The Trillium Award was donated to MSO by the Trillium Y Masters Swim Club.
