Assigning Meet Dates

REVISED MARCH 2008

GUIDELINES FOR ASSIGNING DATES FOR MASTERS SWIM MEETS

1. Any club may apply to host a meet. However, if the club requesting the sanction is not a

registered Masters Club, they must include a registered Masters Club as part of the organizing

group.

2. The Masters Club must have swimmers registered as part of their club. Preference will be given

to clubs that demonstrate that all of their swimmers are registered with MSO.

3. Clubs that run established meets have right of first refusal over their meet date until June 1. (See

chart below)

4. After June 1, the dates will be assigned on a first come, first served basis and as per guidelines

#1 and #2.

5. Separation of meets that draw from the same swimmer group:

Rule of Thumb: If 2 meets are within 60–90 minute drive time (90–130KM) they will be

considered as drawing from the same pool. Clubs that fall within this distance need to have at

least 2 weeks between any meets held. Alternatively, meets can be held less than 2 weeks apart

if the organizers work together on their meet package to offer different events so there is no

overlap (e.g. one hosts a sprint meet and other a distance meet). This is subject to MSO

approval.
